Hello! My name is Holly Castillo.

A white girl with a Spanish last name. (Thank my husband!)

I truly believe that the most important part of your wedding day is that you end up married, because everything else flies by. Having photographed over 200 weddings and elopements across California and now in North Carolina, I can tell you that the day moves fast. But those tiny moments captured on film and digital formats will be frozen forever.

Your cake will be eaten, and your dress stored away, but the photos? They let you relive it all, over and over. That’s why photography is an investment in your legacy, not just a checkbox on a wedding planning list. My clients often describe me as "easy-going," and I wear that badge proudly. Wedding planning is stressful enough without your photographer making things harder. With over 10 years of wedding industry experience stretching from Santa Barbara to Charlotte, I've got you covered. I've seen it all—from brides riding in on camels to couples exchanging vows as trains roar past in the background.

Because my style leans into a nostalgic, documentary aesthetic, people sometimes think I just stand back with a long lens and hope for the best. But true candid photography is actually a paradox. Getting photos that look entirely effortless, stunning, and editorial-inspired takes intention. My approach is built on knowing where to put you so the light and composition work in your favor, and I use prompt-based direction rather than stiff, traditional posing. My goal is to give you just enough guidance that you forget the camera is even there. You get to stay completely present and grounded in the actual joy of your day, and I get to capture your most genuine, unforced connection.

I’m here to capture the actual vibe of your day—the messy, the loud, the quiet, and the beautiful. You bring the love; I’ll bring the film.

On A More Personal Note...

I'm 33, and a born and raised Ventura County girl. My husband and I are high school sweethearts from Simi Valley, and we got married at the ripe old age of 21. So yeah, I believe in love stories. We have three kids, three cats, and a ton of houseplants that I may or may not neglect depending on how chaotic everything else is. I enjoy vintage and thrift shopping, trying new restaurants, and watching goofy shows like The Office and Bob's Burgers.

I’ve been a photographer for most of my life, borrowing my parents point and shoot cameras to waste all their precious 35mm film on taking 24 pictures of our cats. I was taking selfies on my first digital camera (the very high-tech Sony Cybershot) before the term was coined. I remember calling them “self- shots”. I never dreamed of being a wedding photographer, and it would be a lie to say I did. This path fell into my lap and clicked (no pun intended) for me, and I now can’t imagine doing anything else. I'm constantly planning my dream wedding even though I'm already married, and I cry at most all of the weddings I photograph (mostly during the mother/ son dances). Please don't be weirded out, I'm just really happy for you!

If you're looking to support a small business and a real family, you're in the right place!
