Kaitlyn reached out to me about engagement photos in Los Angeles, near where she grew up. The couple currently live in the Bay Area, but they wanted to do a Los Angeles bar/ neighborhood adventure for their engagement session. Our time together began at the charming Tam O'Shanter, a Los Feliz landmark restaurant that holds a special place in the couple's hearts. This cozy Scottish pub, with its warm atmosphere and delicious food, has been a favorite spot for them since they first started dating. Kaitlyn and carter enjoyed a few drinks and laughter before venturing out into the Los Feliz neighborhood for a colorful Los Angeles photo shoot. This whole session was done on 35mm film and digital- and I am sharing a mix of both together!
Choosing a meaningful location for engagement photos
Selecting a location that has personal significance to you can make your engagement photos even more special. Whether it's the park where you first met, the beach where you got engaged, or a favorite restaurant, choosing a place that holds meaning for you will help your photos convey your own unique story. If there's no easily accessible location that is meaningful to you, try to incorporate just one idea that holds special meaning- by wearing a piece of jewelry from your significant other, or even playing a song in the background that is special to you.
One of my favorite parts of this restaurant property is the telephone booth that was outside. We had a lot of fun using it for some interesting angles for photos! Getting to flex my creative muscles is why I love going to new locations for sessions. It's a win win of going to a place I know and feeling confident in my spots, or of going someplace new and really getting to be creative and have fun with my couples.

Exploring Los Feliz
As a Los Angeles photographer specializing in film and digital photography, I love exploring the diverse and charming neighborhoods of the city. Los Feliz is one of my favorite spots for engagement photo shoots. Its eclectic mix of vintage shops, cozy cafes, and stunning Griffith Park views provides a beautiful backdrop. The neighborhood's unique blend of old-world charm and modern-day cool makes it the perfect location for creating timeless and artistic images. My couple really wanted some vintage Los Angeles city vibes, and we found it in some cool architecture, colorful murals, hotel signs, and the Los Feliz Blvd. sign.
Our Los Feliz engagement session was a delightful adventure filled with laughter, love, and fun photo stops, including walking by a cat cafe/ rescue. As a Los Angeles film photographer specializing in documentary photography, I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing couples like Kaitlyn and Carter! Whether you're planning a traditional engagement shoot or something more unique, I'm here to help you create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. Let's start planning your engagement session today! I'm happy to help you brainstorm places, ideas, and more.
